Satyabrata Acharyya

Whole-time Director

Satyabrata has more than three decades of experience in rural development, and farm-based livelihoods promotion for small holder farmers across seven states of India. He played an instrumental role in creating thousands of sustainable livelihoods through reviving the wild sericulture activity (Tasar) in India’s tribal heartlands. He has expertise in nature-based solutions in climate change mitigation.
Satyabrata holds a master's degree in agriculture. He is an avid reader and a trained classical singer. He lives with his wife and son in Noida.
Satyabrata leads the Climate Action vertical.

Smita Mohanty

Whole-time Director

Smita has 30 years of experience working for organisation development (OD) and human resource development (HRD). She has expertise in policy formulation and system setting including review and reflection for team/work unit, staff development, recruitment and selection etc. She is a certified trainer for conducting staff training and gender awareness programmes.She has long experience with planning, budgeting, finance mobilisation and grant management. She is a founder Member of the Institute for Group Facilitation andfacilitated many Group Processes Laboratories for participants’ professional development.
Smita is an MBA in HR and Finance from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar. She is a nature lover and in her free time, she loves to paint.
She co-leads Knowledge Solutions vertical.

Sumita Kasana

Whole-time Director

Sumita Kasana has two decades of experience in the development sector. She has extensively worked in the grassroots as well as in central core functions in domains around women collectives, gender, livelihoods enhancement for smallholders, community nutrition, governance, financial literacy, and project evaluation. For the last decade, she was in the space of knowledge management, curating and developing knowledge from practice for wider dissemination. She was the primary architect of "Sampark", an online knowledge management and idea exchange platform promoted by PRADAN. Before co-founding CSL, Sumita worked in PRADAN for 17 years.
Sumita has a master’s in food & nutrition from Lady Irwin College, Delhi University. She finds gardening therapeutic and loves to spend time with her plants and prepare bio-enzymes and compost from kitchen waste. She also practices non-violent communication.
She co-leads the Knowledge Solutions vertical.

Sunil Kumar

Managing Director

Sunil has more than 15 years of experience in rural development. He has expertise in farm and non-farm-based livelihood promotion, institution building and enterprise development. He has promoted several farmer-producer organisations and small holder poultry cooperatives. He has ledlarge inter-state development projects. He has been a technical expert in Agriculture for parastatal organisations.
Sunil holds a master’s degree in Rural Management. He is a gadget enthusiast and loves to read fiction in his leisure time.
Sunil is the Managing Director of Cognisphere.

Ashis Chakraborty

Programme Lead (Climate Action)

Ashis has more than two decades of experience in rural development and promotion of forest-based livelihoods for smallholders and forest dwellers across several states of India. He helped in creating sustainable income options for thousands of poor people through wild sericulture activity (Tasar) in India’s tribal heartlands. He has expertise in nature-based solutions in climate change mitigation.
Ashis holds a degree in Forestry. He lives with his wife and son in Ranchi.
